Sky Lake harbors a rich eco-system like no other. The bald cypress is an icon of Southern swamps. They help trap and absorb floodwaters, sediments, and pollutants and their numerous cavities provide shelter for ducks and mammals. Floodwaters constantly provide fresh nutrients that fuel rich plant growth and insect productivity that feeds many wildlife species.

Sky Lake Hunting started shortly after 2006 when Jerry sold 2 large land tracts of primarily deer hunting operations in Fitler, MS and made the decision to go back to his roots at Sky Lake. Initially leasing approximately 1100 acres, the McBride family started land acquisition. Jerry and his sons, Johnny and Jerry Dee, started deer and waterfowl management on the properties. Through 13 land acquisitions, the McBrides currently own approximately 2100 acres.
